Aside from the holidays where family gets together, like Christmas and Thanksgiving, I have to say…Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. As a kid I got excited for the candy and dressing up and although I’m no longer trick-or-treating, I still wait with great anticipation to get creative and dress up to go out with friends. Here are 5 Halloween costume ideas to get you inspired, but require minimal effort. For most of these costumes, you really only need an item or two to pull it off, which you may already have. If not, I’ve linked Amazon Prime 2-day shipping products so you can get them just in time.
Freddy Munson from Stranger Things

Or, any of the members from The Hellfire Club in Stranger things. Just grab one of The Hellfire Club raglan tees off of Amazon and you’re good to go! This was one of my costumes from last year. I got creative with my makeup which I already had, wore the tee and BOOM I was Freddy.
PURCHASE: Hellfire Club tee
Skeleton

An easy classic. Grab a skeleton onesie/pajama set (pretty sure they’re selling them at Walmart and Target this year), get creative with some black eyeshadow and liquid liner and you’re set. I was heavily inspired by Phoebe Bridgers last year and went for a skeleton meets scarecrow with my makeup.
PURCHASE: Skeleton onesie
Fiona from American Horror Story: Coven

A witch; another easy classic. During my senior year in college (when I had a different costume for each night of Halloweekend) I went as Fiona from American Horror Story: Coven. My black hat and sunglasses were from Kill Star and I pulled a little black dress from my closet (origins unknown). Just wear all black, get a black wide brimmed hat and a fake cigarette if you’re going as Fiona or Madison from AHS. (Smoking not suggested or condoned…!)
PURCHASE: Little black dress, black wide brimmed hat, black sunglasses
Fairy/Elf
“She was a fairy…” This year, I’m going as a fairy sans wings. I’m just pulling a long flowy dress from my closet and ordered a wig, flower crown and elf ears from Amazon. As for makeup, I’m using NYX glitter in Rose, a nude lipstick and various colors of eyeshadow from my collection to create different patterns on my face. This could be a cute group costume if you coordinated different colored wigs, dresses and glitter with your girlfriends! Check out my Instagram @ambermirrelle to see how it turned out!
Playboy Bunny…or just a bunny 🙂
Another simple one. Years ago I threw on a pale pink sweater (because it was FRIGID in Upstate NY) and a pair of bunny ears and called it a night. If you’re going as a Playboy bunny, this could be a cute group costume with girlfriends and you can enlist your boyfriend or a guy friend as Hefner with a red robe and pipe! (Not a fan of Hugh Hefner as a person, but as a Halloween costume…have fun!)
Bunny: black bunny ears or pink bunny ears
Hefner: Red robe, fake cigar pipe
That’s all for now, folks!
Reminder: Do NOT get into any cars with anyone who you know or you think has been drinking! Stay safe and stay spooky.
