Introvert Diaries – Blogmas Day 21

I love finding beauty in the mundane and enjoy when others post about their day whether that be on YouTube or TikTok, so I thought I might post a laid back “Day in My Life” post.  This was my day December 20, 2023.  I had a half day at work before taking off the rest of the year for the holidays.

7:30 AM – Waking up is difficult for me, but it’s not so bad when I know Patrick has brewed me a fresh cup of coffee and my sweet kitty, Salem, is cuddled up next to me.

8:00 AM – I log onto my work laptop and begin replying to emails and scheduling the rest of the social media posts for the company I work for.  Can’t tell you much other than that…sorry I signed an NDA.

9:30 AM – I finish my coffee and ask Patrick if he can make more.  He announces we are unfortunately out of coffee.  I place a Starbucks order (a grande gingerbread latte for me, a grande mocha for him) and he goes to get it as I’m still in my PJs…woops.  One of the perks of working remotely.

11:30 AM – I eat chips and guac leftover from a Chipotle lunch I had the day before.  Not the healthiest brunch and not my proudest moment.

12 PM – I write my most recent blog post on getting better sleep, a goal of mine I have for the new year.  I take a picture of my nightstand to accompany it and post away.

1 PM – Refilled my water bottle. I got this cute 25 oz. stainless steel one from our trip to Mt. Rainier.  Cutest design with the map of Mt. Rainier and its coordinates in one of my favorite colors: Mustard yellow.  I got ready for the day, which today just meant changing out of my pajamas into comfy black leggings and a blue sweatshirt with a Van Gogh painting on the front.  Also put on my favorite scent combo as of late: Laura Mercier’s Ambre Vanille Body Lotion and Billie Eilish’s Eilish No. 1 perfume.  Recommended by the queen herself in this Vogue video

1:30 PM – I folded and put away a load of laundry that was neglected over the past week, including a sweater that’s been sitting out on the couch that Salem has claimed as his own.  It’s become a running joke.

I also put another load in the laundry to get all my clothes clean before I begin packing for NY.  Speaking of, I also wrote a packing checklist for myself so I don’t forget anything.  The trip up to NY for the holidays is big, as I will be staying there for over two weeks, bringing my cat Salem, a cooler filled with ingredients I’ll be using for appetizers, presents for my family and more.  Writing it down helps so I’m not anxiously packing.

I also made a list of ingredients I needed to get for appetizers I plan on making for my family over the holidays (one more recipe will be posted this blogmas, and it’s a good one!)

All the while, I’ve been listening to an episode of the Emergency Intercom podcast.  I’ve been binge-listening to it and will probably fall into a depression once I catch up.

2:15 PM – I switched the laundry over to the dryer and made a batch of chocolate chip cookies as the molasses ginger cookies I made are already gone, and there’s a little over half a dozen shortbread cookies left since I gave many of them to co-workers for the holidays.  The chocolate chip cookies are vegan and have crushed walnuts thrown in!

3:15 PM – Patrick took my laundry out of the dryer as I transferred the cookies from the oven to cooling racks.  I plan on making another batch of the molasses ginger cookies tomorrow.  We then go out to Wegman’s to do some last minute shopping for the ingredients I will need while I’m in NY.

4:00 PM – We get home and put the groceries away and sit in the living room and talk a bit before having dinner.

5:00 PM – For dinner we picked up some sushi from Wegmans (they have the best in my opinion!)  Honestly, if I could have their hand rolls every night for dinner, I would.  Just rice and raw tuna and salmon, my favorite.

5:30 PM – I go over to the PS4 and play Stardew Valley for a bit.  It’s been an obsession of mine this past week.

7:45 PM – We decide to watch the 1998 movie “Elizabeth” since we finished the Showtime series “The Tudors” last night.  We both eat a slice of the vegan carrot cake I made for Patrick’s birthday earlier this week while watching.  It was a great movie and we plan on watching “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” or “Mary, Queen of Scots” next!

10:30 PM – Patrick and I get into our PJs, brush our teeth and head to bed.  This is considered an early night for me considering I don’t have work the next morning.
