…or Merry Christmas Eve, rather. There will be one last blog post tomorrow to wrap up Blogmas and you’ll just have to wait for the next one in January as I take a bit of a break from posting everyday. I will be back to posting on my regular schedule of bi-weekly and I’ll let you know what days of the week I will be posting in the next blog post as I get everything organized for the new year 🙂
In the meantime, today I just wanted to go over my holiday plans with you and would love to hear what Christmas traditions you partake in and your plans for the holiday in the comments!
For starters, on Christmas Eve my family typically attends a Christmas service at my grandmother’s church and get together afterwards for some hors d’oeuvres, card games and quality convos. My mom and I will get any last-minute Christmas wrapping done and will bring the presents up from the basement to be placed under the tree. We’ll also begin prepping any food for Christmas Day, including the Christmas breakfast which typically includes “monkey bread” (a sticky cinnamon bun type pastry/cake), homemade English muffins and a savory breakfast casserole.
We end the night watching one of our favorite Christmas movies (typically the Polar Express!). My brother and I are usually the last ones to go to bed as we stay up and giggle over memes.
In the morning, before going downstairs and unwrapping presents with the family, I like to make myself a coffee and get ready for the day so I can spend the rest of the day relaxing. When the rest of the family is up, we’ll all sit around the Christmas tree and start unwrapping presents one at a time (our stocking stuffers first!). Usually, we pause the present opening to grab some of the yummy breakfast food we prepped the night before, refill our coffee mugs (maybe add a shot or two of Bailey’s Irish cream!) and eat in the dining room before heading back to open the rest of the presents.
This year, we’ll be going over to my uncle’s house for dinner and, you guessed it, more presents. Before dinner, I plan on making my famous bacon wrapped weiner dogs (a blogmas post idea for next year…)
The day after Christmas is always a relaxing day at the house lounging around in our pajamas, enjoying the gifts we received and eating leftovers from the day before.
A few days after Christmas, my uncle from Virginia will drive up with his wife and daughters and we’ll have another smaller celebration with them.
I’m so excited, as I always am, for Christmas this year and spending time with my family. I’m so grateful for any gift I receive and I really enjoy seeing my family unwrap the gifts Patrick and I got them.
What are your Christmas traditions? Drop them in the comments below!
Merry Christmas!
Love,
Amber
